Abu Dhabi is the capital city of the UAE – United Arab Emirates – and the largest of seven individual emirates that make up the country. The UAE was created as a federation and became a unifi ed independednt sovereign state in 1971. The members of the UAE are Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.

With some 10 % of the worlds known oil reserves, Abu Dhabi ranks as the richest of the emirates and a global economic powerhouse in its own right.
